Media

The Media screen has two tabs: Local and Site.

Local

Every picture stored on this device for Grafida, in one flat grid — there are no folders here. Each card shows a thumbnail, its file name, its dimensions and size, whether it has already been published, and which draft(s) currently use it in their body text, if any.

  • + adds a picture from Photos or Files. Dropping an image onto the grid works too.
  • A HEIC photo is converted to JPEG automatically, since Joomla sites generally cannot use HEIC. An oversized picture is scaled down to a sensible maximum size. Both are reported with a toast so you know it happened.
  • Card actions: Edit image, Rename, Save to Files, Delete — deleting warns you first if a draft is still using the picture.

Site

Your site's own Media Manager, browsed live. A breadcrumb at the top shows where you are; tap a folder to open it, tap an image for a full-size preview. Depending on what your site allows: Upload, New Folder, Refresh, and rename/delete from a picture or folder's context menu — deleting a folder removes everything inside it, on the site itself.

If Grafida cannot reach the site, this tab says so plainly rather than showing an error; use Local in the meantime.

Editing a picture

Edit image — on a Local card, and in a Site picture's own context menu — opens Grafida's editor. It works the same way for both.

Rotate left and Rotate right turn the picture a quarter turn. Flip horizontally and Flip vertically mirror it.

Crop is a mode, not a one-shot action. Tap it and the picture dims with an instruction to drag a rectangle over the part you want to keep; the button turns into Cancel crop while it is armed, and the readout shows the selection's size in the picture's own pixels. Then tap Apply crop.

Resize changes the picture's pixel dimensions. The Aspect ratio menu beside the two fields decides what happens as you type: Free lets you set each dimension independently, Original keeps the picture's current proportions, and 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 hold that shape. Type one dimension and the other follows.

Undo takes back the last thing you did; Reset goes back to the picture as it was. Neither costs any picture quality — every change is re-applied to the original from scratch, so the picture is only ever resampled once no matter how much you experiment.

Save writes the edited picture back where it came from; Cancel throws the changes away.

Note

Editing a local picture updates every draft that uses it, including drafts you do not have open. Grafida re-fits each <img> so the picture is never left stretched into its old proportions — a picture you had deliberately resized inside an article keeps the size you gave it, re-proportioned so it is not distorted.

Caution

Saving a Site picture overwrites that file on your live site immediately, with no undo, and every article already using it shows the edited version at once.

Edit image only appears on pictures Grafida can write back — PNG and JPEG. A format iOS/iPadOS can display but not save (WebP, at the time of writing) is left alone rather than offered an edit that could not be saved.

Getting a picture into an article

The Intro Image, Full Article Image, and any picture custom field in the editor's inspector each offer the same two routes: Choose file… for a picture that starts life on this device, or Browse… to pick — or upload — something through the site's own Media Manager directly.

Note

This version of Grafida has no image button inside the body text itself — the body is a plain text area (see Editing Articles). A picture reaches the body only if you paste in the HTML for it yourself, which Grafida then recognises and tracks like any other local picture.
